The Only
Permanent Solution

For over 140 years, electrolysis has remained the only method of hair removal recognized as 100% permanent by the FDA. At Terry System, we have been perfecting this art since 1963.

What is it?

The Science of Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a medical-aesthetic procedure where precise energy is applied directly into the hair follicle. This energy destroys the germinative cells responsible for hair growth (the dermal papilla), ensuring that it never grows back in that spot.

"Unlike laser, which targets hair pigment, electrolysis targets the anatomy of the follicle. That's why it works on all hair and skin types."
Electrolysis Probe

Microscopic Precision

We use sterile probes as fine as a strand of hair.

The 3 Modalities

We adapt the technique to your sensitivity, hair type, and body area.

1

Thermolysis

The Fastest

Uses high-frequency alternating current to generate localized heat. It is extremely fast (thousandths of a second per hair) and ideal for fine hair and larger areas.

2

Blend

The Most Effective

Combines Thermolysis (heat) with Galvanic Electrolysis (chemical). Creates a dual reaction that is lethal even for the most resistant, distorted, or hormonal hairs.

3

Galvanic

The Classic

Uses only direct current to create a chemical reaction in the follicle. It is the original method, very effective, but slower. Today we use it mainly in combination (Blend).

Step by Step

How the Treatment Works

1

Insertion

An ultra-fine probe slides into the natural opening of the follicle. Without piercing the skin. Painless.

2

Application

A micro-discharge of energy is released. The heat or chemical reaction destroys the growth cells at the root.

3

Removal

The hair loosens and is gently removed. If you feel a "pull," it wasn't done right. With us, it slides out.

Why do I need multiple sessions?

Hair has 3 life phases. Electrolysis is only effective in the Anagen phase (active growth), when the hair is connected to the root.

Anagen (Growth) 85% Effective
Catagen (Transition) Partially Effective
Telogen (Resting) Not Effective

Since we don't know which phase each hair is in visibly, we need to treat the area cyclically (12-18 months) to "catch" all hairs in the right phase.

Electrolysis vs. Laser

The truth about "permanent hair removal".

Feature Electrolysis Laser / IPL
Permanence (FDA) 100% Permanent Permanent Reduction (Hair returns)
White/Red Hair ✓ Effective ✗ Ineffective (Blind without melanin)
Dark/Black Skin ✓ 100% Safe ⚠ Risk of burns/spots
Precision Hair by hair (Eyebrows, etc.) Large areas only
Tattoos ✓ Safe over tattoos ✗ Forbidden (Burns ink)

Who is it for?

The short answer: For EVERYONE.

Light Hair

White, blonde, red, and grey hair that laser ignores.

Dark Skin

Phototypes IV to VI can be treated without risk of hyperpigmentation.

Hormonal / PCOS

The only real solution for hirsutism and hormonal growth.

Transgender

Surgical preparation (GRS) and definitive facial feminization.

Safety and Effects

Electrolysis is safe and medically approved. We use disposable probes and hospital-grade sterilization.

  • Normal: Slight redness or swelling for 1-2 hours after the session.
  • Recovery: The skin recovers quickly. You can apply makeup the next day.

Common Myths

Myth: "It hurts a lot"

Truth: With our Apilus xCell (27MHz) equipment, the sensation is very mild. Most clients relax or sleep.

Myth: "It leaves scars"

Truth: When performed correctly by professionals (like us), it leaves no permanent marks. The skin remains intact.

A History of Innovation

1875

The Invention

Dr. Charles Michel, an ophthalmologist, invents electrolysis to treat ingrown eyelashes.

1963

Terry System in Portugal

We are pioneers in bringing this technology to Lisbon, setting the quality standard.

Today

Digital Technology

We use Apilus xCell Pur, the most advanced and comfortable technology in the world.

FAQ

Yes. The FDA classifies electrolysis as "Permanent Hair Removal," while laser is classified only as "Permanent Hair Reduction." Once successfully treated, the follicle dies and never produces hair again.
It varies from person to person, depending on hair density, hormones, and area. Generally, regular treatment is required for 12 to 18 months to capture all growth cycles.
We charge by treatment time, not by area. This makes it very fair, as you only pay for the time we are effectively removing hair. Consult our price list or schedule a free evaluation.
