PCOS & The Hair Removal "Vicious Cycle"

If you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), you know the struggle: you remove hair in the morning, and by night the shadow is back. You try laser, and sometimes it gets worse. Here is the medical explanation why — and the only way to break the cycle.

Many of our clients come to us after more than 10 laser sessions on their face or chin, claiming the hair is now thicker or has spread to new areas. This is not imagination. It is a real phenomenon.

The "Paradoxical Effect": When Laser Fails

Paradoxical Hypertrichosis

In hormonal areas (face, neck, areolas), the low-intensity heat from Laser or IPL can stimulate dormant "villus" hairs (that fine fuzz) to transform into terminal hairs (thick and dark). Instead of eliminating the hair, the laser accidentally "wakes up" neighboring follicles.

The result? You end up with more hair than when you started. This is a well-documented risk in medical literature for women with hormonal imbalances.

Why Electrolysis is the Only Cure

Electrolysis (specifically the Blend method) works differently. We do not use light or spread heat over a large area. We attack the architecture of the follicle.

Surgical Precision

We treat the follicle individually. Energy is delivered specifically to the root of the problematic hair, without affecting surrounding dormant follicles.

Chemical Destruction (Blend)

For deep, curved hormonal roots, we use the Blend Method. It combines heat with a chemical reaction (lye) inside the follicle, ensuring destruction of even the most resistant hormonal hairs.

Real Permanence

Unlike laser (which is "permanent reduction"), electrolysis is "permanent removal". We cauterize the germ cells. Once dead, that follicle never produces hair again.

The Reality: A Marathon, Not a Sprint

Because your hormones are constantly trying to stimulate new growth, consistency is key to success.

1

The "Clearing" (Months 1-3)

Intensive sessions (often weekly) to remove existing visible hair. Immediate relief, but new growth appears quickly as we complete growth cycles.

2

The "Control" (Months 4-9)

Hair grows back finer and slower. Sessions become shorter (30 min to 15 min). Shadows disappear.

3

The "Maintenance" (Months 10+)

We only treat occasional "stray" hairs. You might visit us once every 6 weeks. You are finally free.
